Mr. President
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed,
ye judges of the earth
Psalm 2:10
Dear Friends
The great nineteenth century statesman and politician, Daniel Webster once said,
"If we and our posterity shall be true to the Christian religion, if we and they shall live always in the fear of God and shall respect His commandments. We may have the highest hopes of the future fortunes of our country. But if we and our posterity neglect religious instruction and authority, violate the rules of eternal justice, trifle with the injunctions of morality, and recklessly destroy the political constitution which holds us together, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us that shall bury all our glory in profound obscurity."
For many today these words may sound like the utterance of a religious fanatic. But is it possible they are prophetic? Is it possible that the enormous financial meltdown we are witnessing all around us finds its cause in the last place we would ever think of looking? Is it possible that the erosion of respect for America around the world stems not from our military posture, but rather from a radical change in our own moral core? Is it possible that the great divide that our nation faces is not political, financial or racial, but rather spiritual? Finally, is it possible that we are witnessing the beginning of a sudden catastrophe that will usher in the disintegration of the mightiest nation in human history? In short, is it possible Daniel Webster was right?
A New America
Consider the America of today and how it has radically changed from just a generation ago. Today, truth has all but disappeared in our courts. Arrogance and a total absence of shame flood our culture. Sacred institutions such as marriage are now being redefined to include what the scriptures call an “abomination.” Add to that the fact that innocent unborn children are being routinely sacrificed to the god of convenience. And we have the gall to call this “Freedom.”
Today, even God Himself is regarded by leaders of this nation as a threat to our liberties. Imagine that! The true Architect of freedom has been ushered to an unseen corner of the United States by its courts, and forbidden to speak in public. According to our great legal thinkers, the Ten Commandments, which reveal the very mind of the Creator of heaven and earth, cannot be displayed in any public setting because it might offend those who reject its eternal truths. Furthermore, instead of embracing those truths, our laws are now built on a belief that America, which was once regarded as "one nation under God," must now accommodate every superstition and perversion as the moral equivalent of Holy Writ.
Warn the People
As this nation appears to be plunging out of control toward unspeakable calamity, the Great God of heaven has directed His servants to “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins” (Isa.58:1). He has done so because He does not want His people to suffer the horrible consequences of their defiance to Him and His LAW.
This page of our web site contains five letters issued to the President in an appeal to him to turn our nation from the path it has taken and to submit to the One True God who has so richly blessed it. These letters are straight forward and address the defining issues of our day. They warn that if America continues on its present course it will find itself on the receiving end of a horrible judgment. Additionally, although each letter speaks with great respect they also speak with great force. Why? Because we at Blow the Trumpet are convinced that now is not the time to cloak our message in soft words. America is in grave danger and we all bear some of the blame.
Respectfully,
Blow the Trumpet
