And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached
in all the world for a witness unto all nations;
and then shall the end come.

Matthew 24:14

We at We at Blow the Trumpet are absolutely convinced that man is acting out the final scene of his rule on this planet. Throughout the world, evidence of what the Bible calls the “last days” is clearly visible. Whether it is the proliferation of religious fervor, the escalation of war and violence, the intensifying of racial conflict, or the increase of natural disasters, our planet seems to be falling apart. It now finds itself wallowing in moral and ethical decay. Its politics play out a bitter message with absolutely no real answers. Terrorism now lurks in unpredictable places and exposes mankind to the threat of total extinction. Meanwhile the great leaders of nations are strong on promises and weak on solutions. Despite what they might claim, the world is not getting better. On the contrary, it is in critical condition.

Jesus Christ spoke of this time to His disciples at the very end of His life (Mt.24, Mk.13, Lk.21). His words were ominous and reflect an age of great peril. They declared that unless He personally returns to this world and dramatically intervenes, human survival will be impossible and all hope will be lost.

When instructing His disciples concerning the last days Jesus stated that the true gospel of the kingdom would be proclaimed as a witness to all nations prior to His return to earth (Mt.24:14). The word “witness” in this verse is very interesting and reveals a profound truth concerning God’s end-time work. This term comes from the Greek word “marturion.” It is a term that pertains to a judicial proceeding. “Marturion” is testimony based on evidence; in this case the Decalogue or Ten Commandments. When Jesus spoke of this “witness” He was using it in a prosecutorial context. Here God’s law is held up as the standard, and mankind is indicted for its defiance.

The scriptures make it absolutely clear that God’s servants are to show His people their sins and exhort them to repent. When speaking through the prophet Isaiah, God commissions them to powerfully proclaim this witness. Notice what this Great Law Giver says:

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. (Isa. 58:1)

Isaiah was not the only one God used to exhort His servants to proclaim a warning message. The second chapter of the book of Joel describes the very last days of man’s reign on the earth. At that time an invincible army will rout the armies of this world and seize control of the planet. However, before this takes place, God directs His servants to proclaim a warning.

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand... (Joel 2:1).

A Warning to His Watchmen

So important is the proclaiming of the gospel as a witness that God specifically stated He would hold His servants personally responsible if they failed in this charge. Using the prophet Ezekiel, God declared that although destruction will come upon those who refuse to heed His word, a warning message would be delivered. If His servants failed to issue that warning, the blood of those destroyed would be on their hands (Ezk. 33:1-8).

The true Witness

When Jesus’ apostles went forth to preach the gospel, it was not as so many do today. These founding fathers of the New Testament church gave their lives to proclaiming a truth that was urgently needed by a world defiant against its Creator. They were serious men living in serious times, proclaiming a serious message. That message was a warning that God’s law is real and there are real consequences for breaking it.

The gospel of the kingdom is an announcement that the government of God is going to be established on this earth under the direct supervision of Jesus Christ (Rev. 11:15) and His saints (Dan.7:18,21). It is a declaration that the Messiah will return to this world in great power and subdue the nations. At that time, the Prince of Peace (Isa.9:6) will come as a the commander of a great army (Rev.19:11-21). But before He returns, a warning message will be proclaimed.

Our Mission

Our mission is to proclaim that warning. To this end we are committed to lifting up our voice to the leaders of this nation and the world as well as to the leaders of God’s church and His people. Our approach will be to directly confront them concerning God’s great law and the consequences for breaking it. Our message will not be cloaked in soft words. It will be clear and direct. It may offend many but it will never offend the truth.

Finally, although our work is small, we are totally confident that God Himself is behind it and will provide the resources to sustain it. This is not the work of men and its fruit will bear this out.
