W hen speaking before the 2004 Republican National Convention, Senator John McCain of Arizona made an interesting observation regarding the freedoms Americans have enjoyed for over two hundred years and this nation’s current war on terror. Senator McCain said:
“What our enemies have sought to destroy is beyond their reach.
It cannot be taken from us. It can only be surrendered.”
Tragically, it appears that our nation is now prepared to do exactly that, SURRENDER! Nowhere is this fact more evident than in the erosion of the values that once defined so much of this country. Consider the America of today and how it has radically changed from just a generation ago. Truth has all but disappeared in our courts. Arrogance and a total absence of shame flood our culture. Sacred institutions such a marriage are being redefined to include what the scriptures call an “abomination.” Innocent unborn children are being routinely sacrificed to the god of convenience. And we have the gall to call this “Freedom.”
Today, even God Himself is regarded by leader and citizen alike as a threat to our liberties. Imagine that! The true Architect of freedom has been ushered to an unseen corner of the United States by its courts, and forbidden to speak in public. According to the laws of this land the Ten Commandments, which reveal the very mind of the Creator of heaven and earth, cannot be displayed in any public setting. Today, millions of Americas have now taken the approach of “Don’t call us. We’ll call you.” when it comes to their relationship with the Savior of the world. Our leaders may speak of Him in lofty philosophical terms, but for all to many, their heart is far from Him.
Because of this, the Great God of heaven has directed His servants to “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins” (Isa.58:1). He has done so because of His desire that His people will not have to suffer the horrible consequences of their defiance. If they will only repent, He will forgive them. This is His desire – that they repent.
This page of our website contains letters issued to various leaders of this nation in an appeal to them to turn from the path they have taken and to submit to the God who has so richly blessed our country. These letters are straight forward and address the defining issues of our day. They warn that if America continues on its present course it will find itself on the receiving end of a horrible judgement. Additionally, although each letter will speak with great respect they will also speak with great force. We at Blow the Trumpet are convinced that now is not the time to cloak our message in soft words. America is in grave danger and we all bear some of the blame.
